Use this practical checklist to prepare for a private household move. Adjust the timing to your move date and agree any service responsibilities with your moving team.

As soon as you know you’re moving

Set your date window. Sort items to keep, donate or recycle. Request a quote with your locations, home size, access details and service needs. Ask about storage if your dates do not align.

In the weeks before your move

Confirm the scope of your moving package. Arrange building access and discuss parking. Gather important documents and check address-change requirements with the relevant organisations. Label boxes by room if you are packing yourself.

The day before

Pack a separate essentials bag: documents, medication, chargers, keys, toiletries and a change of clothes. Keep it with you. Make a note of anything requiring special handling and check arrival access.

On moving day

Walk through the home with the team and confirm what is moving. Check cupboards and rooms before leaving. At your destination, direct boxes to their rooms and check belongings against the agreed inventory where applicable.
