A reference on a national scale.

In 2019, the Bibliothèque nationale du Luxembourg brought its collections together at its new Kirchberg building. The relocation involved around 1.8 million physical documents, spanning more than 40 kilometres of shelving.

Tranelux S.A. participated in the removal works as part of a joint venture with specialist moving companies, as recorded in the official project brochure.

Moving Luxembourg’s documentary heritage to its new home in Esch-Belval.

A new chapter for national memory.

The Archives nationales de Luxembourg’s relocation brings its services and collections together at Belval. The published removal programme covers approximately 46 kilometres of records transferred from several sites to the new archives building.

Purpose-built repositories offer improved conditions for conservation and research, with a total storage capacity of 105 linear kilometres. The new reading room opened on 24 June 2026.

The transfer is carried out in phases across 2026 and 2027, preserving the organisation and accessibility of Luxembourg’s documentary heritage.
